When should I leave the US for Europe?
I strongly suggest that you join the pre-cruise option to Prague prior to sailing on the 9 th . Arriving early will get you settled into the European time zone with a couple of days to adjust before the cruise. Your airport transportation will be taken care of, as well as your transportation from Prague to the ship on embarkation day.

If you participate in the Prague tour, you will leave the US any time on the 5 th of December with an arrival in Prague on the 6 th . There are no non-stop options to Prague from the Northwest. You’ll need to connect via East Coast hubs or one of the European hubs, such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris, or London. Be sure to schedule sufficient connection time at these hubs.

If you plan to take the cruise without Prague, you will depart on the 8 th with an arrival on December 9 th in Munich.

What’s included in my cruise?
Just about everything, from your accommodations on board, all meals, all beverages, shore tours, gratuities, and taxes.
What if I need to cancel?
Northwest Travel is not chartering this vessel. I do not have the ability to change names or refund cancelled bookings without deferring to the cruise line. I strongly suggest cancellation insurance. Details are here:

Because payments are nonrefundable, travel insurance is suggested. Both of the companies listed below have a policy rate calculator online. Enter the cost of your tour and personal data to receive a no-obligation cost estimate.

Two recommended companies are:

Cancellation insurance will range in price based on the cost of your travel and the age of the applicant. Get a quote at the websites above before making a purchase.

What’s the weather like?
It’s Winter! Expect colder, dryer weather in Central Europe than in the Pacific Northwest. You can also expect to see a bit more sun. Temperatures in Prague and Budapest average in theupper 30s in December. You may also get snow along the tour route. You’ll want to pack your cold weather gear for this tour. It’s always best to check the online weather sites just before packing your bags.
Air fares and schedules:
If you choose not to come to Prague in advance, Munich is the closest airport for your arrival in Europe. Arrivals in MUC Airport on the 9 th will have an option of purchasing Uniworld transfers from the airport to the ship in Passau.

Airlines that will get you there and back again:

  • Delta/KLM/Air France via Amsterdam, Paris, or eastern cities of Atlanta, New York.
  • British Airways via London
  • Lufthansa via Frankfurt

Based on fares for the 2017 season, you should be able to anticipate coach fares below $1000 a person. Business class fares are generally about 5 times the cost of coach. If you require assistance booking your flights, I would be happy to assist. If you plan to use miles or points, you’ll have to work with the airline directly.

Cruise/Tour Pricing:
NW Travel group clients receive a discount of $200 per person as well as a shipboard credit to use on board of $100 per person. In addition, past guests (Heritage Club) with Uniworld will receive a 5% reduction on the price of their stateroom. Group discount is reflected in these prices. 5% Heritage Discount will appear on statement after initial deposit is made.
